Hunter Erb, 16 months, was born early with multiple congenital heart defects, some of which had never before been seen or studied at The University of Iowa Hospital.
In his short life, Hunter has had three open heart surgeries, a pacemaker and a stent, but hasn’t lost one bit of his smile. During his 10 months (on and off) in the hospital, his mother Stephanie told me he was quite the charmer with the nurses. She added, “He will need more surgeries but hopefully, not until he’s bigger. Sadly, the U of I Hospital was our second home, but we had wonderful people who made it feel as close to home as possible.”
Hunter needs to stay away from children to avoid illnesses that could put his delicate system in distress, and his feeding tube (pictured) is a part of his daily life.
I wish Hunter and his family the best as they help him grow big, strong and healthy.
